I very rarely use one of my sketches when I am out and about to create a work in the studio. Our Urban sketching meeting for August saw us down on the shore at the Dee estuary in the”boat’s graveyard” The choice of subjects was amazing with rotting hulks as far as the eye could see! I chose a yacht not in its final throes but certainly well on its’s way. I was pleased with the sketch and that day began a painting when I returned to the study – using my sketch to work from. I completed the picture quite quickly and it is now at the framers so that I can submit it for a forthcoming exhibition. Below the photos, sketch and final work…
