Teaching “on Board”

Graham Thew May 28, 2015

In March I learnt that my application to an American agency who place artists on board Cruise liners had been accepted.

Some months earlier I had noticed an advert in the A&I magazine inviting expressions of interest from watercolour artists who would be interested in teaching on board cruise ships. I thought “who wouldn’t?” Dusted off the C.V. and posted it. A few weeks later an email arrived inviting me to provide more details, copies of my pictures, a full C.V. and letters of reference. Following the receipt of all that the next stage was to chat in an “informal interview” with Beth from the agency. I was delighted to be told following this that “my name would be added to the roster”

So I am now booked on my first assignment  teaching on a Celebrity Line cruise in October leaving from Rome and repositioning across the Atlantic, around the Caribbean and ending up in Miami/Fort Lauderdale. It’s all very exciting as Pat can come along with me so it’s a great potential mix of work and holiday!  I shall “keep you posted” as the time draws near and I make the preparations for the voyage.

Below is a sketch of the “Ventura” from our last cruise
