Urban Sketching Workshop days October and November

Graham Thew August 1, 2019

I am pleased to say I am running a couple of workshop days at the Williamson Art Gallery on Saturdays,  the 5th of October and 16th November. Each day will have much the same content:

Tuition will be in basic drawing and sketching skills. In addition I will be  covering the choice of materials, techniques and looking at topics such as the use of watercolour, shadows and perspective. these more tricky aspects of sketching will be approached in a general rather than a technical way. The essence of the day will be to enjoy the company  working in a non competitive, non comparative and non judged way.

Urban Sketching is a fun and community activity. It has grown over the past few years into a massively popular movement, connecting sketchers across the globe who share their work, support and inspire one another in turn inspiring sketchers everywhere. Drawings are often shared on the internet , which has certainly contributed to the rapid expansion of the “Urban Sketching Movement”

After all we all see the world differently, our own outlook on life mitigated by the thoughts and views of those around us. We all have different horizons  and  recording our perspective on life can be done in many varied ways. Sketching is probably one of the most basic, yet potentially, one of the most meaningful of these ways to communicate our vision.
